Two Scenarios about social media in the classroom -
1. Some schools do not allow to teachers to access some sites such as Facebook or Twitter. Explain why they are wrong and give reasons/examples.
You cannot avoid social media. You cannot outlaw it in the classroom. This new technology is everywhere. People are going to use it. It would be like trying to stop a river with one sponge. I agree that people, teachers and students, should be taught how to use this social media appropriately. Besides, technology can benefit students in the classroom. Teachers can make Facebook pages for their classrooms, where only those invited can join. These pages can allow for students to communicate. The pages can also remind the students when certain assignments are due. Technology cannot be contained or stopped by forbidding accesses. Technology should be embraced, taught, and understood so everyone can use it appropriately.
2.. Some schools do not allow to teachers to access some sites such as Facebook or Twitter. Explain why they are correct and give reasons/examples.
Social media can quickly run amok with our lives. People can share too much information on these websites, such as Facebook. They can post inappropriate pictures of themselves. In addition students or teachers can post jokes that lose their meaning online and now are seen as offensive. People tend to see the internet and social media as allowing them some anonymity in the world. They post and write things they think people won’t see. They are wrong and will be held responsible for posting questionable material. In addition, bullying has become a huge issue lately. Many teens have committed suicide after being bullied in the classroom and online. Megan Meier and Tyler Celmenti killed themselves after being harassed. Therefore it is not a bad idea to limit students and teachers use of social media.
